Women's Rights Champions needed
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to participate in our developing ‘Women’s Rights Advocacy and Education Project’. The aim of the project is to increase knowledge and understanding of women’s human rights, particularly as they impact on issues of violence against women (and specifically domestic violence and abuse).
As a volunteer ‘Women’s Rights Champion’ you will help to raise awareness of women’s rights issues within communities across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan; working to change attitudes and behaviour through one to one, group and community action. The role is very flexible with regards to time commitment, ability to travel and level of involvement so if you feel passionately about human rights this could be an interesting and rewarding voluntary role for you.
Before you start, a comprehensive, group focused training programme will be provided which will equip you with the necessary skills to enable you to help instigate positive social change; challenging discriminatory attitudes that perpetuate levels of violence against women.
If you are interested or have any further questions about the project or the voluntary role of ‘Women’s Rights Champion’, please don’t hesitate to contact Alice Matthews; either at womensrightsworker@cardiffwomensaid.org.uk or by telephoning 029 2046 0566. We can also arrange a quick informal meeting if you would prefer.
