Community
THE PROJECT:
• Promotes education and awareness in the community in relation to women’s human rights, particularly in relation to domestic violence and abuse;
• Works towards positive change in community attitudes towards equality and gender discrimination;
• Empowers women to know their rights and how to use them; this enables them to have greater choice and control over their lives.
WHAT WE DO:
• Outreach (so that women of all ages have access to information on support services available)
• Recruiting, training and supporting volunteer ‘Women’s Rights Champions’ who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead participatory workshop on equality and gender discrimination within their own communities.
• Having a presence at local community events where we talk to members of the public about issues relating to women’s rights.
• Providing training and awareness sessions to local community groups and front line service providers on any of the following: Human rights, Women’s rights , Gender equality, Violence against women, Domestic abuse.
